RCA TV - F27632SE CTC177BH2 |
Message |
| Hi,
This 27" TV has sound but no picture. The Setup function comes on the screen but is very wide and tall so you cannot see it all. It also seems like the pincusion is out of whack. I believe the tube is good but perhaps there is a bad main chip that controls all of the sizing and picture itself. Can anyone provide some assistance or perhaps schematics for this model and main board?
Thanks!!

David,
The Diode is bad. The cap reads .025 with a cap checker.
Is this a Mylar Cap? Where can I get the Cap and Diode?
Thanks,
John

If the Diode is bad the Capacitor is also bad 99 persent of the time. Most of these caps are .047@400v Mylar. The Damper Diode is NTE/ECG 506, or FR307, or FR377. If you have any old chassis laying around check em out you might find what you need. Any of the large Diodes around the Flyback will probably work OK and even the Orange Drop capacitors of equal value will bring the set on though I would not leave it in the set as a completed repair.::David:: |

| David,
I replaced the Diode and Cap. The set still does not have a picture. The sound still works. When you press the menu button, the menu pops up at the bottom of the screen but it still is too large to see all of the menu. The bottom of the menu screen is larger than the top of the menu screen. There is still no brightness. Any more ideas? I've checked most of the Caps and Diodes.
Thanks!!

Is the screen total black except for the Menu section? If so you may have to replace the dreaded EEPROM IC. This can be a task if you are a novice repairman. Or are you saying that the set-up Parim. and Values are off the screen without any Video at this point?? ::David:: |

| David,
The screen is totally black. When I push the menu button on the front of the set, it comes up on the screen but is too large. I also see the channel numbers when I change the channels and the word volume when I press the volume button on the front of the set.

Sounds like the next thing to do is replace the dreaded EEPROM. Its the 8 pin IC toward the front of the board left of center .I would advise locating a Pre Programed EEPROM for the replacement . At my shop we use RCA part number 228287 for most all Chassis CTC175 through CTC187.::David:: |
