I have a Mitsubishi VS 4544. It worked well for 3 years. After leaving it set idle for almost 4 years I tried to start using it again. There was a problem with the picture flickering as if it had a loose connection. At that point it was working fine with a video tape but not through the tuner.
It then started having a problem turning on and off. It word turn on and not turn off without pulling the plug. Then later it would not turn on. Then later yet it would turn on again. Now it is not doing anything. I have never experienced such a problem with a tv.
Is there a place to get a repair manual? It was built Sept 1996. |

Check out www.mitsubishi-tv.com, they sell manuals & parts.
I would try to open the back first & try to resolder cold joints. Inspect for possible dry out capacitors.

| Basically, you have to do a visual inspection of the circuit boards. After a while a component will heat up when power is on & the component will cool down down when the power is off. Over time, the connection "solder" on the circuit will have poor connections due to this effect. You can just resolder the power supply board area parts to start. If you don't have a soldering iron, they are inexpensive. Good Luck! |

Does anyone have the owners manual for this model? VS-4544.
I recently bought this tv at a garae sale for $20 because it did not work. Took it home, plugged it in, worked for about 5 minutes, then it went blank and a click could be heard. Open it up and found that one of the capacitors looked like a frozen soda pop can. Replaced it and it has been working fine for about two weeks now. I need to get a remote and an owners manual so I can make all of the adjustments to make the picture look better (convergence is very slightly off). Thank you. |
