| update:red only comes on full blast when tube is warmed up. When tube is cold, there is no red. If we tap on neck of picture tube when red is full blast, the red dies but we can see picture good. Should tube have this kind of defect after only two years? To me sounds like manufactures' defect. Anybody else any opinions? |

Bad News!
I Once had a customer with the same fault not so long ago. I replace the tube base board thinking it may be a component with an internal fault but still the fault persisted.
the bad news is that it wa the tube and only a replacement tube cured it. i did try blasting the tube but it only made matters worse. |

| GOOD NEWS!
No need to change picture tube. The problem in your picture tube is red cathode leakage.
This can be repaired by a simple and basic alteration in the heater power supply.
ISOLATE HEATER
1, disconnect the existing heater power supply.
2, Isolate filament terminal from the ground.
3, wind 2 to 3 turns with a hookup wire on the core of the flyback trans.
4, Check the voltage. if normal connect to the heater. (Increasing or decreasing the turns can adjust voltage)

| I have a Toshibe 32A50 that, when a dark scene was on the screen, the picture tinted very dark, if it was a light scene then the screen would return to normal. Recently, the TV turns off at random and the LED blinks. Does this mean the picture tube is shot? Any idea the cost of a replacement? or is it less expensive to replace the entire TV? |
