Thomson 28WT25US Combi TV/DVD - difficulty reading discs

Message

My Thomson 28WT25US Combi TV/DVD has difficulty in recognising DVD discs once inserted.  I have to open & close the drawer 4 or 5 times before it recognises the disc and will allow playback.  The problem is worse when the TV has been on for a few hours.  Once recognised, the disc plays fine.

I've tried using a DVD lens cleaner disc with no success.

Any ideas anyone?
