RCA 52" will not turn on |
Message |
| I have an RCA 52" model# P52755BA, chassis#PTK178L2B. I was watching TV 2 nights ago and heard a white noise/static sound through the speakers and the set turned off. I tried turning the set back on and the green power led would light and slowly dim, but the set will not power up. I researched this board and a couple of others and found out about the fuse near the power cord and the high failure rate of the power cord itself on RCA's. I took the panels off the back of the set and metered my outlet, the cord at the solder joints on the board and continuity across the fuse. All of these are ok. If this is a common problem with a fix I can handle, I would love to try. I enjoy soldering, electronics, and learning new things, so I will give it my best try. If any of you think I am biting off more than I can chew, I will call the repair center.
Please let me know if you need any other information, and thanks in advance for any/all help.

| I have a 52" Proscan.
Mine won't come on either.
I wasn't home when it went out.
So I don't know if any noises came through speakers when it quit.
I had this problem before and service guy replaced the high voltage splitter.
Its out again. I found a splitter online but now need manual to replace.
Would appreciate any help.

| Trace your big red wires from your tubes and where they connects is the splitter. Just mark wires disconnect splitter and replace it.Video tape it if you need to. |

| You can disconnect anode lead from flyback transformer where it connects to the splitter or focus block and aim it away from all circuits and see if set fires up.If it does change where it connected to.If set still does same thing check your horizontal output transistor. |

| your set must be arching to ground somewhere and causing it to go into shutdown.Try turning it on in a dark area and looking for an arc.On the i69 chassis there is a 250 volt 47 uf cap to the left of the flyback that gives your pic 200 volt-ck it |

My 52" RCA CTC178 P52755BA won't start up, power light flashes 3 times. I disconnected the anode wire from the Voltage Splitter, discharged path safely in a coffee cup (thanks!). Same thing though, power light flashes 3 times. Tried it at night, no sign of arc-ing, CAP beside flyback does not appear swollen or damaged (350V 47uf). I could not find any obvious burnt components (or R712-R713). Any ideas as to the problem? - test points I should check to isolate problem?
Any help would be appreciated |
