Hello This fault is as common as muck. The line transistor will be short circuit. When you replace it there will be a fireworks display from the flyback transformer! Call an engineer or get back to me if you want the parts to fix it.

I have a Schneider stv2801T and it made a loud "crack" sound last night and the picture went off. I turned it off and back on again and the sound had gone, too. Now I just get a strange "peep, peep, peep" sound from the back of the set. Any ideas on the cause and advice on what I need to fix it. Also, is it within the average layman's capabilities to do this repair or should I seek professional help?
