RE: hitachi CT7883B (27IN) PLEASE HELP |

| Greetings! I recently repaired such a set displaying the same problems. It was a 1991 Hitachi CT7883B which, when turned on, would begin horizontal scans plus part of one vertical scan. The vertical scan quickly diminishes and all that is left is a brief dot of phosphoressence at the center of the tube. The relay clicked, with no sound or picture. The fault was in the vertical scan circuitry: a faulty capacitor. The capacitor was a blue ceramic disk capacitor of capacitance 222K (as printed on the surface, not in farads, of course) at 2KV. In the television, it is located to the far left hand side of the pcb as you are looking down on it from the back of the set, and halfway down the side (closer to the front of the tube). I suggest you look at this capacitor as well as others in the vertical AND horizontal scan circuits, as they might be faulty and not the transistors. Keep in mind, most bad capacitors are visibly CRACKED OR CHARRED. More likely, cermaic disk capacitors would be cracked. Good luck. |

| In the above description, the (1/2) vertical and (several) horizontal scans last for less than one second as you turn the set on. It is enough to statically charge the crt, but NO IMAGE IS EVER FORMED, only a brief (less than 1 second) flash of phosphoressence occurs and then diminishes as if the set were turned off. |

I have the same problem. My capacitor is charred. Can you suggest a good place online to buy one? Or maybe give me a part number? I've tried, btu I can't find it anywhere. |
